Traveling on a budget
The problem: Many travelers are limited by finances. We have observed that finding the cheapest transportation tickets requires travelers to check numerous websites. Comparing transit prices can be frustrating and time-consuming, especially on mobile.
Every ticket in one place
The proposed solution: Compare all transportation methods and prices into one place. Design an app that enables users to find the best transportation on the market from their phones.
Booking filters
The first major design decision was made to the way searches where displayed. The original home screen had a tab dedicated to browsing results by booking site. A decision was made to nest the "browse by booking website" option inside the filters menu. The reason behind this change was that interviewees paid more attention to travel duration and ticket costs. A search result became competitive when it aligned with personal needs; the site it originated from was irrelevant. This change also reduced the cognitive load of visitors by simplifying the home screen.
Journey information
The second notable design decision was made to include ticket accommodations and comforts into the booking flow. Selection for ticket class, extra baggage, and travel insurance is included in the prototype. Testers responded well to browsing travel details as it allowed for thorough planning. If this app did not offer enough information, it would fail to other booking methods.
Final prototype
Here is the final prototype created. It has a single user flow for booking a flight. The booking process for Buses, trains, and cars are the next steps for this project
